Upcoming Programs and Events at Rocky River Public Library

August 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.   The Digital Bookmobile National Tour (www.digitalbookmobile.com) will showcase the digital content services available at Rocky River Public Library at Rocky River City Hall Campus. At this free event, readers of all ages will learn how to access eBooks from the library through interactive demonstrations and high-definition instructional videos. The Gadget Gallery—featuring Kindle® Fire, iPad® Mini,  Android™ Galaxy Tablet, NOOK™ HD+, Creative® Zen, Kindle® Paperwhite, Windows® Phone 8, and more—will help visitors discover portable devices that are compatible with the library’s digital service. While you are visiting the bookmobile, enter the drawing to win a free Samsung Galaxy Nook! 

August 4, 11, and 18 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.   Taco Tuesdays fire up in the Library parking lot and on the lawn.  The Fired Up Taco Truck stops in our parking lot to serve up your favorite mouthwatering treats, including tacos and empanadas plus soft drinks. Get your tacos to go or stay to play corn hole, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, trivia and more. Get 10% off your food purchase by simply checking out a Library item on the day of the event and showing your receipt. Music by The School of Rock. August 4 at 3:00 p.m.   Join the End Of Adult Summer Reading Celebration.  A summer filled with great reading should end with festivities!  Come celebrate all your hard work by sharing your favorite books, hearing about other titles you might enjoy, and snacking on some scrumptious hors d'oeuvres.  

August 6 at 7:00 p.m.   Meet "The Orchid Doctor” when Cynthia Druckenbrod, Director of Horticulture at the Cleveland Botanical Garden visits the Library. She will demonstrate how to plant orchids, maintain blooms, repot them and much more. Q & A follows presentation.

August 10 at 6:30 p.m.   Our Indie International Film Fest continues. Come by to view the “Leviathan,” a 2014 Russian drama. The film deals with some of the most important social issues of contemporary Russia, as well as a love story and a tragedy experienced by ordinary people.  Enjoy fresh, hot popcorn while celebrating the world of cinema. Please note these films have not been rated and should be assumed to have mature content.

August 12 at 9:30 a.m.   Learn how to troubleshoot common tablet errors like connection issues, short battery life, sluggish response and more at Troubleshooting Your Tablet. Tablets are computers and may have occasional issues like PCs do. 

August 13 at 7:00 p.m.   The limelight is on Playhouse Square Then & Now when George McNulty presents its history. Learn the fabulous background of our Cleveland Theater district and find out how it became the largest performing arts center outside of New York City. Enjoy video clips along with an engaging talk. Enter a raffle to win two tickets for loge seats at an upcoming fall performance!  

August 14 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.   Come to the Library for Sip, Snack, And Craft. Get into the knitting groove and bring your own project and supplies. The Library will provide a cozy atmosphere and helpful assistance if you get stuck. Registration required.

August 22 and 28 at 12:00 p.m.   Join us for a for a Movie Matinee and enjoy a popular new release. Popcorn and lemonade provided!

August 25 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.   Attention teens and tweens! You are invited to the Back to School Breakfast Bar.  Join us at the Library for an afternoon of pancakes and waffles. Hang out with friends, meet the librarians, learn about upcoming programs, and share all your first day of school news. Grades 6 and up.  

August 26 from 3:15 to 5:00 p.m.   Drop in for Get in the Game! for students in grades 3-6. Meet at the library after school to hang out with your friends, play games and munch on snacks. Different fun activities are featured each month.
