Rocky River Community Garden Fundraising Breakfast

Help keep the Rocky River Community Garden growing.

Rocky River Community Garden announces it will launch its sixth year with its Annual Breakfast and Raffle to be held at the Beachcliff Tavern on April 19. The event will feature a Chinese auction and "April Shower of Spending Power" raffle. Funds from this year's raffle will be used for continuing improvements at the garden such as repairs to the garden shed, operation of a Food Pantry garden for Rocky River Meals on Wheels and the Rocky River Assistance Program, and educational programs that both help the gardeners keep their crops growing and provide information to the public.

The garden opened in 2010 with 18 plots and 36 gardeners. In the last five years, the garden has grown to provide space for over 75 people. Basic tools and equipment have been purchased, fencing and waterline have been installed, and access to the garden has been improved. The soil has been enriched and elevated garden boxes have been built for those needing to garden in a standing position. Raised beds have been installed to make low-lying areas more productive.

All are welcome to celebrate our sixth year and help our garden grow! The cost of the breakfast is $18 per person; $6.00 for children 12 and under. Doors open at 10:00 a.m., and breakfast will be served at 11:15 a.m.

Reservations and payment can be sent to Peg Perry, 336 Northcliff Rd., Rocky River. Peg can be contacted at pperry336@gmail.com or 440-570-1974.
