Love: less talk, more walk
His last instructions were simple: “Love one another, as I have loved you.” So, why is it so hard to put Jesus’ teachings into practice? Why do we judge ourselves and others harshly? What does it take to love your enemies and forgive those who’ve hurt you?

These questions will be explored at a free community talk by international speaker, Chet Manchester. “Walking the walk: living the love Jesus taught” will take place at: Rocky River Civic Center,Memorial Hall, Wagar Rd. and Hilliard Blvd.

Manchester says his talk grew out of a trip he made up into to the mountains of Galilee where Jesus first voiced his revolutionary teachings two thousand years ago. “He spoke of love in a way people had never known before – love that, like the sun, shines on everyone and everything equally. As we discover more about the unconditional love of God, we learn how natural it is to express it in our lives and relationships.”

Manchester, a Christian Science practitioner and lecturer, will share examples of how the practice of divine Love has stopped violence and helped people rebuild relationships and overcome serious health problems. His talk will include a perspective on Mary Baker Eddy, who wrote extensively about the healing power of Love and whose bestselling book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, has helped people of all faiths rediscover the practicality of Jesus’ teachings.

The event is being sponsored by First Church of Christ, Scientist in Rocky River.
